Already more widely known in the world of cinema as ‘Thalapathy,’ Vijay announced the formation of his new political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), in 2024, signaling his intent to contest the Tamil Nadu assembly elections. According to the party’s roadmap, TVK aims to capture seats in the state assembly to form a government.
Vijay’s success in this journey has created quite a stir in Indian politics. After a career spanning several years, he announced the formation of his new political party in 2024. Vijay, who is one of the highest-paid actors in the Indian film industry, has reportedly declared that his upcoming film Leo will be his final acting venture. For this film, he has reportedly taken ₹250 crore as his remuneration. Starting his acting career in his first film for just ₹500, Vijay has acted in 68 films over the last 30 years, including hits like Mersal, Sarkar, Leo, and Thalapathy. In his private life, Vijay is married to Sangeeta Sornalingam, a woman of Tamil descent living in Sri Lanka, and they have two children, Jason Sanjay and Divya Saasha.
