The Rotary Club of Dimapur celebrated Teachers’ Day by hosting the Rotary Gyan Jyoti Awards 2026 at Rotary Centre, Dimapur, on September 10, honouring educators for their dedication and contribution to shaping young minds. Six outstanding teachers from schools across Dimapur and Chümoukedima were recognised: Zuinla Jamir of GHS Sematila, Marina Semy of Cosmopolitan School, Dhan Bahadur Chetry of Gonyü Memorial School, Renthunglo Ovung of GMS Midland, Loshumbeni of GMS Metha Colony and Anungla Pongener of GHSS Lengrijan. The club also honoured its own educators, Kitoshi Zhimomi, Monoj Bhattacharjee and Sanjukta Bhattacharjee, for their continued contribution to education. Welcoming the gathering, Rotary Club president Pradeep Goel described teachers as architects who shape the careers and character of students and play an important role in nation building. He emphasised that teachers deserve appreciation and recognition throughout the year, not just on Teachers’ Day. Interact president Neiketonuo Shuya also highlighted the importance of respect, appreciation and togetherness in recognising those who contribute to building society. Chaired by Pradip Jain, with Sanjay Jain as co-chair, the programme celebrated educators not only through awards but also by acknowledging the lasting influence they have on students and communities. The Rotary Gyan Jyoti Awards 2026 served as a reminder that behind every confident student, successful professional and responsible citizen is often a teacher who has guided, encouraged and inspired them.
