Assam’s pride and Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist Lovlina Borgohain has secured a place in the Indian team for the upcoming Commonwealth Games. Lovlina confirmed her spot in the Indian contingent after winning the national selection trials held at Sukhi in the 70 kg category.
It is noteworthy that Lovlina cleared her path to the tournament by defeating her opponent by a margin of 5-0 .
The Commonwealth Games are scheduled to be held from 28 July to 8 August. Along with Lovlina Borgohain, other boxers who secured positions in the Indian squad (women’s category) through these selection trials include:
- Nitu Ghanghas (48 kg)
- Nikhat Zareen (50 kg)
- Jaismine Lamboria (60 kg)
- Parveen Hooda (63 kg)
- Lovlina Borgohain (70 kg)
Sports enthusiasts have expressed immense hope that Lovlina, the daughter of Golaghat’s Sarupathar, will deliver a stellar performance on the global stage, drawing on her immense hard work, perseverance, and self-confidence. Furthermore, apart from the Commonwealth Games, Lovlina will also represent the Indian team at the upcoming Asian Games, scheduled to be held from 23 September to 8 October.
