Right after the conclusion of the ongoing season of the IPL, the Delhi Capitals management is set to make major overhauls. This list includes the coach, assistant coach, and captain, along with multiple other cricketers. The Delhi management is shattered by the disappointing performance of the team despite building a well-balanced squad. Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants have already been knocked out of the IPL playoff race. The battle to enter the top four is now among the top six teams. Delhi, currently in seventh place, and Kolkata Knight Riders, in eighth place, are staying alive in this fight based on permutations and combinations. However, their chances are extremely slim.
Delhi has managed to secure only 10 points from 12 matches so far. Axar Patel’s captaincy has failed to deliver performances up to expectations. Therefore, the management wants to make widespread changes to the team before the next season.
According to a source, the decision not to retain Axar as captain in the upcoming season is almost final. Team officials are not at all happy with his performance. Bowling 36 overs across 12 matches, Axar has managed to claim only 10 wickets, while just 100 runs have come from his bat. Officials are also dissatisfied with his leadership. Axar reportedly runs the team solely based on the advice of coach Hemang Badani and Director of Cricket Venugopal Rao, failing to take any independent decisions.
The team management is also disappointed with coach Badani. It is certain that the coach will lose his position in the coming season. Most of the team officials have also expressed disappointment over Kuldeep Yadav’s performance.
