The National Cadet Corps (NCC) has achieved a significant milestone with the commencement of its Basic Paramotors Course at the National Institute of Mountaineering & Adventure Sports (NIMAS) node in Guwahati, Assam. This pioneering programme is aimed at promoting aero-adventure sports and fostering the spirit of adventure, courage, and discipline among NCC cadets.
Lt Gen Virendra Vats, YSM, SM, VSM, Director General NCC, visited the NCC North Eastern Region Directorate and witnessed the training of 50 NCC senior division boy cadets in the ongoing Basic Paramotors Course at the NIMAS Paramotors Node, Panikheti, Guwahati. The cadets, hailing from across the North Eastern Region, are undergoing exclusive paramotor flying training from May 4 to May 19, 2026, under the guidance of qualified instructors from NIMAS.
This is the first dedicated course of its kind for NCC cadets in the region, and it marks a significant step forward in NCC’s adventure training programme. The course covers a comprehensive range of topics, including ground handling, motor operations, flight theory, emergency procedures, and solo flying under strict safety norms.
During his visit, DG NCC interacted with the trainees, witnessed live paramotor flying demonstrations, and reviewed the training infrastructure established at Panikheti. He emphasized the importance of paramotors training in building confidence, decision-making, and the ‘Touch the Sky with Glory’ ethos of the NCC.
“The paramotors training gives cadets wings — literally and figuratively. It builds confidence, decision-making, and the spirit of adventure that is essential for the youth of India,” DG NCC said. He also announced that similar courses would be organized for NCC cadets from all over the country, including girls’ cadets, in the future.
The inaugural Paramotors Course underscores NCC’s renewed focus on high-end adventure training for the youth of India, and it is expected to inspire a new generation of young Indians to take up aero-adventure sports and pursue careers in aviation and defence.
