A dispute regarding the purchase of gas from Iran by Adani Enterprises Limited, a subsidiary of the Adani Group, in violation of US sanctions, has been settled. To resolve this dispute, the company will pay 275 million dollars (approximately ₹2,300 crore) to the Trump Administration (US Treasury). On Monday, the US Department of the Treasury formally announced this development. It was stated on behalf of the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) that both parties have reached an agreement regarding the payment of this massive amount.
According to OFAC data, this entire issue originated from LPG imports between November 2023 and June 2025. During that period, Adani Enterprises had imported LPG from a company based in Dubai. According to the claims made by the said supplier company, the gas was brought from Oman and Iraq. However, at a later stage, it was proven that the gas was actually imported from Iran, which is under US sanctions. The Adani Group subsidiary has to pay this fine precisely for importing gas from Iran in this manner.
