Assam won 4 gold medals, 8 silver medals, and 9 bronze medals at the 19th National Grappling (Traditional Wrestling) Championship. The tournament was organized by the Grappling Association of Assam and held from May 29 to 31 at the Bhogeswari Phukanani Indoor Stadium located in Dispur, Guwahati.
Assam’s Virgil Mudeiyar, Lucky Shandilya Bora, Jishupriya Kalita, and Jayraj Shyam won the gold medals.
On the other hand, silver medals were secured by Punit Kumar Chomal, Nikesh Basumatary (two silver), Lucky Shandilya Bora, Jishupriya Kalita, Suruj Mahanta, Dasring Delgrepho, and Bhaskar Acharya Deka.
Meanwhile, Dev Gotal, Jayanta Kalita (two bronze), Mayan Jyoti Sharma, Virgil Mudeiyar, Shubham Thapa, Gautam Deuri, Uday Shankar Bhuyan, and Rajdeep Kashyap bagged the bronze medals.
