Under the initiative of the Indian Pencak Silat Federation and in collaboration with the Gujarat Pencak Silat Association, the All India level three-day Asmita Khelo India Senior Pencak Silat League 2026 was held from March 30 to April 1 at the Yog Purush Sports Complex Indoor Stadium in Gujarat. Assam brought glory to the state by winning a total of five medals, including two gold, one silver, and two bronze medals. Out of approximately 700 athletes from 29 states across the country, a 10-member team represented Assam in the competition.
The Assam team was led by Master Swapan Daimary, Assistant General Secretary of the Pencak Silat Association, and Master Om Chandra Chetry, National Referee and Coach. Notably, Master Om Chandra Chetry brought pride to the state by serving as a referee in the competition. Representing the state, Hemi Medak and Rajashree Borah from Dhemaji district won gold medals, while Pubali Chutia and Dipshikha Gogoi won bronze medals. Pragati Mahanta from Sonitpur district managed to secure a silver medal.
Lakhyajit Doley, General Secretary of the Assam Pencak Silat Association, informed that the Assam team, returning from Gujarat, is expected to arrive in Guwahati on April 6.
