Navajyoti Club has clinched the title of the Rashmibala Tamuly Memorial GSA ‘B’ Division Cricket League. In the final held today at the Judges’ Field, Navajyoti defeated Maharana Athletic Club by 9 wickets. Batting first, Maharana scored 129 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs, aided by 37 runs each from Bastab Hazarika and Bajit Ali, and 19 runs from Banit Akhtar. Dharani Rabha claimed four wickets. In response, Navajyoti reached the target in 17.4 overs losing only one wicket, thanks to unbeaten knocks of 62 from Piyush Kamati and 58 from Ranjit Changmai.
Piyush was selected as the Player of the Match in the final. Banit received the honors for Player of the Tournament as well as Best Bowler. Jagjit Singh of Sunrise Athletic Club was selected as the Best Batter. The prize distribution ceremony was attended by Dhrubajyoti Pathak and Ganesh Tamuly, along with GSA officials. Both the finalists have been promoted to the ‘A’ Division for the next season. On the other hand, FC Green Valley and Shantipur Athletic Club have been relegated from the ‘B’ Division.
