Although Mumbai Indians have continued their disappointing performance in the ongoing IPL, Quinton de Kock’s innings yesterday has given significant relief to the team management.
Yesterday the team lost to Punjab Kings by seven wickets, but opening the innings for Mumbai, De Kock played an unbeaten knock of 112 runs off 60 balls. Having had to sit out in the dugout for the first four matches of this season’s competition, De Kock got the opportunity to play yesterday in place of the injured Rohit Sharma.
In other words, playing for the main team for the first time, he delivered a brilliant century innings. Meanwhile, Rohit, who has been suffering from a hamstring injury, is very likely to play in the next match. If Rohit returns, De Kock is likely to lose his place.
