Miller smashes two sixes off Shepherd in the final over needing 15 runs; Rahul 57, Stubbs 60_ take Delhi from 18/3 to victory
David Miller, who faced severe criticism for failing to score 2 runs off the last 2 balls against Gujarat Titans in the previous match, made no mistake this time. In the IPL match held at Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday, his two massive sixes helped Delhi Capitals defeat Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 6 wickets. KL Rahul’s classical 57 and Tristan Stubbs’ impressive unbeaten 60 laid the foundation for Delhi’s win.
Chasing 176 was never easy on Chinnaswamy’s slow pitch against RCB’s quality bowling attack. But with 15 runs needed in the final over, Miller (22_ off 10 balls) made no errors, hitting Romario Shepherd for two consecutive sixes to take Delhi to 179/4 in 19.5 overs. With this defeat, RCB suffered their second loss of the season.
Delhi were in deep trouble after losing 3 wickets for 18 runs in 2.5 overs. From there, Rahul played a top-class innings of 57 off 34 balls. He particularly targeted Josh Hazlewood, hitting two sixes and three fours in his over to complete his fifty in just 30 balls. Rahul was eventually caught by Virat Kohli off Krunal Pandya.
Rahul and Stubbs rebuilt the innings with a 69-run stand for the fourth wicket. Later, Stubbs and Axar Patel, who retired hurt after scoring 24, added 47 runs for the fifth wicket. When Axar left the field, Delhi needed 45 runs off 25 balls, which Stubbs (60_ off 47) and Miller comfortably chased down. With this win, Delhi ended their two-match losing streak.
