Atletico Madrid defeated Arsenal in the semi-final of the Champions League football tournament. In the second leg of the semi-final held on Thursday night, Atletico won the match 1-0. After a goalless first leg on Wednesday, the pressure was high on both teams in this match. Although both teams launched equal attacks and counter-attacks, Atletico Madrid eventually managed to score the winning goal.
In the 45th minute of the first half, Atletico’s striker Diego Costa managed to find the net, scoring the only goal of the match. After this goal, Atletico Madrid focused on strengthening their defense.
From the start of the second half, Arsenal increased their attacks in an attempt to score. Atletico Madrid’s defense successfully thwarted several of these attempts. During an attack in the 56th minute, a foul was committed on an Arsenal player inside the penalty box. The referee awarded a penalty to Arsenal, but Marcus Berg missed the chance to score as his shot hit the post.
After this missed penalty, Atletico Madrid did not allow Arsenal any more clear opportunities. Both teams tried to score in the remaining time, but the match ended 1-0 in favor of Atletico.
