The Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the SELCO Foundation on September 16 in Bengaluru, Karnataka, aiming to strengthen community-rooted enterprises and address operational challenges faced by women entrepreneurs in rural Nagaland. Described by NSRLM Mission Director Moa Sangtam as a pivotal opportunity to accelerate enterprise development, the strategic collaboration will deliver tailored technology, branding, marketing assistance, and expanded professional networks based on ground-level needs. The initiative is structured around three core focus areas: incubating food processing enterprises across Dimapur, Kohima, Peren, and Phek districts; establishing a dedicated “Champion Network” to mentor leaders in agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, and non-timber forest product-based businesses; and scaling access to decentralized renewable energy and productive technologies through the “Grow DRE” initiative. Through these targeted interventions, the partnership is projected to directly empower and support 500 rural women entrepreneurs every year.
