Saikia, who had stepped down from the post on May 6 following the end of the previous government’s tenure, is set to continue playing a crucial role in shaping the state’s legal landscape. His reappointment brings a sense of continuity, given his extensive experience and expertise in handling key constitutional and legal matters.A trailblazer in his own right, Saikia became the youngest Advocate General of Assam in 2021, taking office at the age of 52 years and one month. Since then, he has emerged as a key figure in the state’s legal hierarchy, representing the government in several high-profile cases and providing strategic counsel on critical issues. Apart from his legal acumen, Saikia is also known for his sporting background, having played first-class cricket in the past. Currently, he serves as the Honorary Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), showcasing his versatility and leadership skills beyond the legal arena.
With this reappointment, Saikia is poised to continue making significant contributions to Assam’s legal landscape, leveraging his expertise to drive the state’s growth and development agenda.
