Children with special needs from the Pahal Government Resource Centre in Amritsar are displaying their creativity and vocational skills through a special exhibition of handmade Diwali products. The three-day event, being held at the District Administrative Complex from November 4 to 6, provides an opportunity for these young participants to present and sell their handcrafted items.
The exhibition marks the return of a vocational initiative after a gap of four years. The project is being conducted in collaboration with the Craftizen Foundation, with a focus on encouraging children to develop practical skills and explore their creative abilities.
Five students are participating in the initiative, including children with hearing impairments and cerebral palsy. Despite the challenges they face, the students have demonstrated enthusiasm and dedication by preparing different handmade products for the festive occasion.
The opening day brought an encouraging response, with the five participating students collectively earning ₹8,300 through the sale of their products. The achievement highlights their efforts and the potential of vocational activities to provide meaningful opportunities for children with special needs.
The exhibition also offers a platform for the students to showcase their abilities and gain experience in selling products. Its return after four years marks an important development for the vocational project.
Through this initiative, the participating children are getting an opportunity to express themselves, demonstrate their talents and gain confidence through their work.
