NF Railway is operating special additional trains to provide relief to stranded passengers after severe flooding in and around Simaluguri town in Sivasagar district under the Tinsukia Division led to the suspension of train services between the Simaluguri–Namtiali and Simaluguri – Selenghat sections on Monday.
NFR officials said that the special services would continue till Friday Moreover, regular services of some other express trains are also being operated between Mariani – Guwahati section
Earlier, as a result of the train service suspension in Sivasagar district, several long-distance trains to and from Dibrugarh and Tinsukia were diverted via the Rangiya – Rangapara – Dibrugarh route.
While certain services have been short terminated or short originated few trains have also been cancelled.
“To assist passengers affected by these disruptions, it has been decided to operate additional special trains,” NFR Chief Public Relations Officer, K.K Sharma said.
Accordingly, Train number 05934 (Mariani–New Tinsukia) One Way Special, departed from Mariani at 12:15 am on Tuesday to reach New Tinsukia at 9pm on the same day.
The one-way special train will run via Guwahati – Rangiya – North Lakhimpur – Dibrugarh route and will have stoppages at Furkating, Barpathar, Sarupathar, Dimapur, Diphu, Lumding, Lanka, Hojai, Kampur, Chaparmukh, Guwahati, Kamakhya, Rangiya, Tangla, Udalguri, New Misamari, Rangapara North, Viswanath Chariali, Harmuti, North Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, New Sisiborgaon and Dibrugarh.
Another two pairs of special trains will operate between Lumding and Mariani Junction. The first train, Lumding – Mariani Jn Special departed from Lumding at 8.30am on Tuesday to reach Mariani Junction at 1.30pm on the same day.
In the return direction, the Mariani Jn-Lumding) Special will depart from Mariani 2pm on Tuesday and will reach Lumding at 7pm on the same day. The second train, Lumding – Mariani Jn. Special, will depart from Lumding at 8pm on Tuesday and reach Mariani Jn. at 1am on the next day.
In return direction, the Mariani Jn. – Lumding Special will depart from Mariani Jn. at 1.30am on Wednesday to reach Lumding at 6.30am on the same day.
“These special trains will have stoppages at every station in this route. Another pair of special train will operate between Rangiya – Mariani Jn. Train number 05831 (Mariani Jn. – Rangiya) Special will depart from Mariani Jn. at 6pm Tuesday to reach to reach Rangiya at 3.20am on the next day. The Rangiya Jn – Mariani Jn. Special departed from Rangiya at 7:20 am on Tuesday to reach Mariani Jn. at 12:20 am on next day,” Sharma said.
