Arunachal Pradesh has commissioned the 132 kV Miao-Namsai transmission line, marking a significant milestone in strengthening the state’s power infrastructure. Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein announced the development on Wednesday, stating that the project will improve electricity reliability across Changlang district and neighbouring areas while supporting the region’s growing energy needs.
The nearly 41-kilometre transmission line connects Namsai, Diyun and Miao and has been developed under the Comprehensive Scheme for Strengthening of Transmission and Distribution System (CSST&DS), a centrally approved initiative aimed at modernising power infrastructure in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim. The project is expected to enhance grid connectivity and ensure a more stable and efficient electricity supply.
Sharing the update on social media, Mein, who also holds the Power and Hydropower portfolios, described the commissioning as a major step towards building a stronger and more resilient electricity network in the state. He said the new transmission line would reduce dependence on long radial transmission networks, improve power reliability and support the increasing demand for electricity in the region.
The commissioning of the Miao-Namsai transmission line reflects the government’s continued efforts to upgrade critical infrastructure and strengthen the power distribution network. Officials believe the project will contribute to reliable electricity services, support economic development and improve the quality of life for residents across Changlang district and adjoining areas.
