Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav reviewed the progress and operational status of the Kohima Smart City Mission during a meeting with Kohima Smart City Development Limited (KSCDL) officials at Lok Bhavan, Kohima, on Friday. Established as a Special Purpose Vehicle in March 2017 following Kohima’s selection under the national initiative in September 2016, KSCDL successfully completed 40 infrastructure and urban development projects—comprising 34 core mission projects and six additional initiatives—prior to the conclusion of the Smart Cities Mission on March 31, 2026. The governor was briefed on key urban assets, including the Kohima City Centre, commercial complexes, hotel building, multi-level car parking, Mini Sports Complex, Capital Cultural Hall, Kohima Local Ground, and accessible public footpaths. Among the operational highlights presented was the fully commissioned Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), which monitors 80 strategic locations across Kohima with 24-hour CCTV surveillance, automated number plate recognition (ANPR), traffic management, and police coordination, achieving a 76.47% success rate in assisting criminal investigations between November 2025 and September 2026. Furthermore, officials outlined the post-mission institutional strategy, noting that revenue generated from the newly created urban assets will be reinvested into public amenities, while the Nagaland state government evaluates the long-term role and continuation of KSCDL as an SPV beyond the official mission period.
