Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) wicketkeeper-batsman Angkrish Raghuvanshi has been fined 20 percent of his match fees for showing anger after being given out for ‘Obstruction of the Field’ (hindering the fielding). Additionally, one demerit point has been added to his record.
The Incident
Raghuvanshi was found guilty of violating the Code of Conduct during the IPL match played against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Sunday. Following an incident in the fifth over of KKR’s innings, he showed his frustration while returning to the pavilion by:
- Hitting the boundary rope with his bat.
- Throwing his helmet in the dugout.
Official Statement
Despite the outburst, KKR went on to win the match in a Super Over. An official IPL statement confirmed the sanctions:
“Kolkata Knight Riders wicketkeeper-batsman Angkrish Raghuvanshi has been found guilty of a Level 1 breach of the IPL Code of Conduct for players and team officials during the IPL match against Lucknow Super Giants and has been fined 20 percent of his match fees. Additionally, one demerit point has been added to his account.”
