There will be no repeat of last year. Breaking the tradition of the IPL, the defending champions will not host the final this time. The final of the ongoing tournament was scheduled to be held at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the home ground of last year’s winners. However, instead of Bengaluru, the final will now be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The IPL authorities have shifted the venue for the final to Ahmedabad due to the stadium’s massive seating capacity and modern facilities. This means that for the second consecutive time, the final will be hosted in Ahmedabad. Previously, it was customary for the defending champion’s home ground to host the opening and final matches. However, the governing council has deviated from this rule this year.
According to the schedule, the first Qualifier will be held in Himachal pradesh Dharamshala on May 26 and the Eliminator on May 27 at Mullanpur . Following these, the second Qualifier will be held on May 29 at the Mullanpur , and the Grand Final will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 31.
