In the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich is synonymous with a flood of goals. By breaking a record for the most goals in a single season set by themselves 54 years ago, they have created new history.
In the 1971-72 season, the team scored a record 101 goals. That team, built with legendary stars like Franz Beckenbauer and Gerd Müller, had netted 101 goals back then. This record remained intact for 54 years.
Last night, that record was finally broken with five matches still remaining in the league. Bayern, who are on their way to winning their 35th title, easily defeated St. Pauli by a margin of 5-0. The goals were scored by Jamal Musiala, Goretzka, Michael Olise, Nicolas Jackson, and Raphael Guerreiro.
If Bayern wins against Freiburg on April 19, they will secure the title with four matches to spare.
