Zunheboto Government College, in collaboration with the Zunheboto Forest Division, is set to launch the Green Campus Initiative on August 12 as the first pilot project under the Community Social Responsibility (ComSR) model.
The initiative marks a significant step towards promoting environmental conservation, sustainability and community participation. The ComSR model, introduced by the Zunheboto Forest Division during the 1st Satoi Connect Fest on March 26, 2026, is a people-centric approach that encourages individuals, institutions and communities to actively contribute towards social and environmental welfare.
Based on the philosophy of “We Before Me,” ComSR promotes collective responsibility by encouraging voluntary participation in areas such as environmental protection, education, public welfare and sustainable development. It expands the concept of social responsibility beyond organisations and businesses, highlighting the role of every citizen and institution in creating positive change.
Under the Green Campus Initiative, Zunheboto Government College will work towards becoming a model institution for environmental sustainability. The programme will include activities such as green audits, tree plantation drives, biodiversity conservation, waste segregation, water and energy conservation, reduction of single-use plastics and environmental awareness campaigns.
The successful implementation of the pilot project is expected to encourage other educational institutions, villages, government offices, civil society organisations and community groups across Zunheboto district to adopt similar initiatives and strengthen the ComSR movement for a greener and more sustainable future.
