This year’s IPL has already seen several incidents involving players that have caught the attention of the authorities. In response, the IPL Governing Council has changed some of the existing rules regarding the behavior and movement of cricketers.
The Board (BCCI/IPL) will now more strictly monitor the movements and activities of the cricketers to maintain the integrity of the game.
Players will no longer be allowed to bring “outsiders” or unauthorized individuals into the team dugout or the “Wizard Bench” area.
The “Outsider” Rule: It has been observed that some players bring friends or acquaintances into restricted zones. The new directive states that anyone not on the official team list (which includes players and support staff) will be strictly prohibited from entering the field of play or the dugout.
These steps are being taken to prevent any potential interaction with suspicious individuals or bookies, ensuring that the players remain focused on the game and away from any external influence.
Every team must submit a list of 25 players. Only those on this official list—and specific authorized staff—are permitted in the technical areas.
