The Assam Rifles Open Volleyball Championship 2026 successfully concluded at Komlakhong in Manipur, marking a significant effort toward restoring social harmony and peace in the region. Organized under Operation Sadbhavana (Goodwill), the tournament brought together 12 teams from the Imphal West and Kakching districts to compete on the banks of Loktak Lake. The event aimed to bridge communal gaps between diverse groups, including Meitei and Pangal communities, using sports as a medium to foster mutual trust and unity amidst the state’s ongoing security challenges.
In a thrilling final match, ADC A Team emerged as the champions after defeating Team BYDA in a closely contested encounter. Beyond the competition, the initiative focused on grassroots talent development for youth in remote border villages and sought to steer them away from negative influences like drug abuse and insurgency. By engaging with locals in a non-combat, festive environment, the Assam Rifles—often called the “Sentinels of the Northeast”—successfully strengthened civil-military relations and reinforced their commitment to community outreach and state normalcy.
