New Delhi, September 20: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Gujarat on Saturday to kick off a range of transformative development initiatives across several sectors at a high-profile event at Jawahar Maidan in Bhavnagar.
The Prime Minister will take part in the ‘Samudra se Samriddhi’ programme, where he will inaugurate and lay the groundwork for many development projects totaling over Rs 34,200 crore.
The maritime industry is a main focus of the event, with Prime Minister Modi inaugurating and unveiling projects worth over Rs 7,870 crore. These programs include crucial infrastructure renovations at key Indian ports. Among the highlights are the opening of the Mumbai International Cruise Terminal at Indira Dock and the laying of the groundwork for a new container terminal at Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port in Kolkata.
Additional maritime developments include a new cargo berth and container handling facilities at Paradip Port (Odisha), the Tuna Tekra Multi-Cargo Terminal in Gujarat, modernization projects at Kamarajar Port (Ennore, Tamil Nadu), Chennai Port, Car Nicobar Island, Deendayal Port (Kandla), and inland waterway facilities in Patna and Varanas
The Prime Minister will also present a huge portfolio of projects worth Rs 26,354 crore in Gujarat alone, with a focus on renewable energy, port infrastructure, roads, hospitals, and urban transportation.
Key Gujarat-based initiatives will be launched, including the HPLNG Regasification Terminal at Chhara Port, the Acrylics and Oxo Alcohol Project at the Gujarat IOCL Refinery, the 600 MW Green Shoe Initiative, and the 475 MW PM-KUSUM solar feeder for farmers. The Badeli 45 MW Solar PV Project and the entire solarisation of Dhordo hamlet will also be inaugurated.
Foundation stones will be set for expansions at Sir T. General Hospital in Bhavnagar and Guru Govind Sinh Government Hospital in Jamnagar. PM Modi will also inaugurate the four-laning of 70 kilometers of national highways, therefore enhancing connectivity and commerce routes in the state.
Several Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) will be signed between government agencies and private sector entities, strengthening public-private partnerships and speeding regional development.
The Prime Minister will also conduct an aerial reconnaissance of the Dholera Special Investment Region, which is envisioned as a greenfield industrial metropolis centered on sustainable industrialisation, smart infrastructure, and global investment.
