The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched an ambitious campaign for the upcoming Assam Assembly elections, setting a target to win 100 seats to consolidate its dominance in the state. To kickstart this high-stakes electoral push, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Guwahati on February 14, where he will address a massive gathering of nearly one lakh booth-level workers. This grassroots conference aims to energize the party’s rank and file and streamline organizational efforts ahead of the polls. Following the Prime Minister’s visit, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive in Assam on February 21 to chair key organizational meetings and review the party’s election preparedness.
As part of its governance-led outreach, the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma-led government is also emphasizing infrastructure and education. Recently, the Chief Minister inaugurated 67 modern school buildings and laid the foundation stones for 61 more, representing a total investment of ₹760 crore. These projects, funded through various central and state schemes, are part of a broader plan to upgrade over 1,300 schools across the state. By combining high-profile political visits with significant development projects, the BJP aims to showcase its commitment to “Viksit Assam” while defending its power against the Congress-led opposition.
