An Air India flight traveling from Delhi to Bengaluru, carrying 172 passengers and crew, was diverted to Bhopal on Monday night due to a technical issue and safely landed at Raja Bhoj Airport under emergency protocols, an official confirmed.
The aircraft, AIC 2487 (A320 Neo, VT-EXO), was rerouted after a warning signal was detected in the plane’s cargo hold. Following standard aviation safety procedures, the crew declared a full emergency at 7:33 pm IST. Shortly thereafter, the warning was cleared, and all onboard systems were reported to be functioning normally. The flight subsequently landed safely at 8:00 pm IST with all 172 people aboard.
The diversion was efficiently managed by Air Traffic Control, Airport Fire Services, and airline personnel at Bhopal Airport. Airport Director Ramji Awasthi confirmed that the incident did not disrupt airport operations. Authorities emphasized that safety protocols were followed rigorously, ensuring a smooth and secure resolution of the situation. Passengers and crew were unharmed, and normal airport operations resumed immediately after the landing.
