Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, a noted diabetologist and veteran Patron of the Research Society for Study of Diabetes in India (RSSDI), proposed a mass campaign for preventing Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in the young. He cautioned against disinformation about diabetes and emphasized the need for institutionalized outreach to common citizens. Singh emphasized the importance of treating diabetes before it occurs and emphasized the need for evidence-based health awareness. He also highlighted a recent study on Yoga’s effectiveness in preventing diabetes, which has been submitted to the Ministry of Health. Singh advocated for an institutionalized national approach, where research outcomes translate into mass benefits, including for high-risk groups.
