As Assam prepares for the final stage of its electoral process, the Election Commission has announced that nearly 8,500 personnel will be deployed across the state to facilitate the counting of votes on May 4. This large-scale mobilization is designed to ensure a smooth, transparent, and efficient tabulation process for all 126 Assembly constituencies. The personnel include counting supervisors, assistants, and micro-observers who have undergone specialized training to handle Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and VVPAT slips in accordance with established safety and security protocols.
To manage the high volume of data and maintain public order, counting centers across the state’s districts will be under a multi-tier security blanket. District election officers have been instructed to set up dedicated communication rooms and media centers to provide real-time updates as the rounds progress. This administrative readiness follows a record-breaking voter turnout, and the deployment of such a significant workforce underscores the commitment to delivering a timely and accurate mandate in what has been one of the state’s most closely watched political contests.
